About
I began my advertising and marketing career in residential and commercial property for a global development firm, opening doors into telecoms, consumer electronics, and eventually into the agency business in Sydney, Australia. My foundations in ‘agency life’ were formed in a mid-size shop where I came to the realization that new business was the golden ticket in this industry, and anyone who could consistently drive new revenue into an agency would have the keys to the city.
Each of my roles within the agency demanded account growth, be it organic or new, and no-one ever turned away a new revenue opportunity that was the right fit. Affectionately, I became known as the New Business Dingo, a strategic hunter, finder and closer.
I successfully transferred those skills to U.K. market-place working with both Pan-European and Domestic agencies of all disciplines, driving new business programs and delivering new business opportunities.
In coming to the U.S.A. from the U.K., I’ve noted some considerable differences in pro-active new business practices, the most common being an understanding of the importance of consistency, consistency in agency branding, positioning, communications frequency as well as the critical importance of relevant messaging and closing. Catapult’s mission and mine, is to help change that.
Why create The New Business Dingo Blog?
In representing the new business interests for many of the country’s most prestigious agency brands and egos, (as well as the regular guys), I find myself in a relatively unique position within the advertising and marketing industry to recognize new business trends, provide insights, tips and tactics to build and implement pro-active, consistent new business campaigns that drive agency growth.
I hope you find the information useful.
Happy hunting.
